GENERAL INFORMATION

Dragon is the only legendary and mystical animal in the 12 Chinese Animals System – as far as I know, no one has ever seen a real living dragon. The physical image and symbolic meaning of the Chinese dragon is different from the understanding of the dragon in the West. In Chinese shamanism, Dragon is an auspicious animal. It stands for transformation, communication, connection, freedom, and the universal way. Dragon is also the rainmaker, has magic powers to change natural formations, and can easily fly between Heaven and Earth. Dragon can penetrate through rock or other matter without hindrance. Dragon lives in the rock, just as fish lives in the water and human being lives in the air.

Dragon is the fifth animal symbol in the 12 Chinese Animals System. We use Chen to represent the Dragon symbol in the 12 Earthly Branches. Chen is a symbol for the 07:00-08:59 time of day, and for the third month in the Chinese Lunar-Solar calendar (which is approximately April 5 through May 6 in the Gregorian Solar calendar). Chen represents the breakfast time of day and the third spring month, when nature is in its most magical transformative season. It is a time or place where Yang energy (life energy) is growing fast and making dramatic changes in a new life cycle. We use the tidal hexagram Guai to symbolize Dragon.

Having Dragon animal symbol in your Chinese birth chart suggests you are powerful, mystical, straight, healthy, congenial, and elegant, and can sometimes be emotional, critical, or unhappy. You will have an active imagination and artistic nature, which will help you achieve your goals. You have a tendency to change your mind easily and may give up easily when you encounter some difficulties in your work. It will help you to complete your tasks if you learn to listen to others and think things over very carefully before you take a new step in your life.

If Dragon is your yearly animal symbol, you will like have an unstable life; particularly when you are young. You move around here and there and try different possibilities for your future. However, you are able to achieve your goals and be successful in business if you can plan and be intentional with your thoughts and commit to that which you really like to do.

If Dragon is your monthly animal symbol, you have a big heart and great sympathy for others. You have a triumphant life when you are in your thirties. In later decades, you will have a lovely and noble life.

If Dragon is your hourly animal symbol, you are smart and talented. You can make a good amount of money when you are young. You have more challenges in life during your middle age, and you have a glowing life after working through those challenges. Make sure to take good care of yourself and have nice vacations when you are 19, 27, 36, and 39 years old. You might have an accident in these potentially difficult years. Be careful when you are 75 years old because you might have a major health problem at this time.

PERSONALITY

You are powerful, mystical, straight, healthy, congenial, and elegant, and can sometimes be emotional, critical, or unhappy. You are changeable, like clouds in the sky. Your romantic and artistic character needs to be balanced by centering yourself well, which will help you complete your tasks and achieve your greatest goals in life.

. . .

RELATIONSHIPS

A Monkey, Rooster, or Rat person may be your soul mate, or at least can be your very close friend. A Tiger person will make a great business partner for you. Be careful around a Rabbit person because it is easy to have conflicts between you two, even though the two of you may sometimes feel as close as siblings. Try to make peace with a Dog person – sometimes, you two get into fights for no real reason. You will have simple relationships with other animal symbol people.

. . .

FOODS

Green vegetables, soybeans, black beans, fermented foods, sea vegetables, and fish are good for you.
