GENERAL INFORMATION

The Monkey has an agile body and a nimble mind. Monkeys always carefully observe the situation, making sure they will not be trapped or captured by hunters before they take their food. In the Chinese tradition, Monkey is a symbol for wit, watchfulness, spontaneity, elegance, opportunism and supervision. It is the ninth animal symbol in the 12 Chinese Animals System. We use Shen to represent the Monkey symbol in the 12 Earthly Branches. Shen is a symbol for the 15:00-16:59 time of day, and for the seventh month of the Chinese Lunar-Solar calendar (which is approximately August 8 through September 8 in the Gregorian Solar calendar). In the daily cycle, Shen represents the afternoon, the time to finish your day’s work, and the first month of autumn in the yearly cycle. It can represent either a time or a place in which Yang energy (life energy) is further declining and breaking down to half of its peak stage in a life cycle. We use the tidal hexagram Pi to symbolize Monkey.

Having a Monkey animal symbol in your Chinese birth chart suggests that you are intelligent, attentive, spontaneous, smart, elegant, and wise. It is also common for Monkey people to be opportunistic, silly, or rushed. As a Monkey animal person, you have nimble wits and wisdom, which will help you to achieve your goals. You can easily get what you want once you have a plan formulated. You would be wise to cultivate your patience because it might take a little longer than expected to achieve your goals. Generally speaking, you have a very good life. People like your intelligence and leadership. You would do well to choose a prominent job, like being a director, contractor, teacher, designer, or leader in the community. When you work directly with people, remember to continually cultivate your patience and humbleness; otherwise, you may come across as being haughty or irascible. The important thing for you to remember if you are in a relationship is to learn how to communicate with your partner, and do not take it personally when your partner has frustrations.
